In Ides of...

For this beer we celebrate Toronto’s best home brewer and winner of the Henderson Cup, Marcelo Paniza.

Marcelo beat out hundreds of entries to be crowed the 3rd annual Henderson Cup winner.  As part of his prize, he had the opportunity to work with our Head Brewer James Turco to develop and brew this years Ides of February.

Style: Traditional Bock

OG – 18 Plato
ABV – 6.8%
IBU – 22
SRM – 18
Malts – Dark Munich, Pilsner, Caramunich III, Cara Aroma
Hops – Northern Brewer
Yeast – Escarpment Biergarten Lager Yeast
Extras – Filtered
Aroma – Toffee, caramel, toasted dark bread.
Appearance – Deep chestnut brown with streaks of red. Clear. Long-lasting, tan head.
Taste – Waves of layered caramel flavours jump out including toffee, caramel, toast, baking cookies, and dark bread. Rich. No discernible bitterness. Finishes full-bodied.
Mouthfeel – Full-bodied with medium-low carbonation. Rich, luxurious mouthfeel that lingers on the tongue.
Overall Impression – A full-bodied, malt-forward, relatively higher alcohol dark lager. A wintertime sipper!
